Self-confessed Coronation Street ‘superfan’, Fred Again, is set to trade the crossfader for the cobbles next month as the high-profile DJ has taken a short-term role on the nation’s favourite soap, Coronation Street.

Fred will be playing 13-year-old Josh, a new character on the street and Roy’s new apprentice in Roy’s Rolls. The characters’ storyline follows Josh’s turbulent but loving relationship with his boss turned father figure, Roy Cropper.

The Daily Horace had the opportunity to sit down with Fred to ask a few questions about the upcoming role. We asked him what he thought about the character he is set to play.

“I can’t wait to see what kind of mischief Josh gets up to. He’s a right little blighter”. he guffawed.

When asked if he had been doing anything specific to prepare for his role or to help him get into character, he said “Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays, I wake up at the crack of dawn and try to convince the milkman to let me have a go of his milkfloat, it feels like the sort of thing Josh would do and that helps me feel connected with the character, I think”.

The Daily Horace was unfortunately forced to cut the interview short as Fred abruptly stated “I have to go and eat egg and chips” before hurriedly walking away from the interviewer.

Tune in to see Fred Again in Josh’s debut appearance on Coronation Street on the 16th of November 2023.
